How much RAM does a Garry's Mod server need?
GMod's server binary is 32-bit, so it cannot use more than about 4 GB however much the machine has. 2 GB runs a small TTT or Prop Hunt server, 4 GB a community server with a workshop collection. Bigger tiers are about slot count and workshop downloads, not memory.
Do I need a Steam Game Server Login Token?
Not to be playable — players can connect by IP without one. A token (free at steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers, app 40 or 4000 for the client) makes the server appear in the public in-game browser. You can add it later from the panel.
How do I add workshop addons?
Create a Workshop collection, paste its id into the server's start arguments, and restart — the server downloads every addon before the map loads. Single addons can also be dropped into the file manager.
Can I install a custom gamemode like DarkRP?
Yes. DarkRP, TTT and most popular gamemodes install over the file manager or an addon collection; the server loads them from garrysmod/gamemodes on the next start.
