How much RAM does a Factorio server need?

Factorio's headless build is famously efficient: a vanilla map with 16 engineers idles under 1 GB. Big factories and megabases push RAM and UPS — 6 GB is the sweet spot, 8 GB for megabase ambitions.

How do players join?

Directly via your server's IP on port 34197 (Multiplayer → Connect to game → IP address). No listing account needed; the join can be password-protected.

Can I use mods?

Yes. Upload mods and mod-list.json through the panel's file manager and restart — Factorio loads them natively.

How does saving work?

The server autosaves on a configurable interval (default 10 minutes) and every stop is a graceful save. Backups run every 6 hours with one-click restore.

Is there a player limit?

You set the slot cap at signup — 16 on the 4 GB tier up to 64 on 8 GB. Factorio's simulation stays smooth well beyond what most games handle.
