Built for admins

The boring parts run themselves.

  • Persistent world

storage_1 and the profiles tree live outside the game depot, so a reinstall or update never wipes bases or characters.

  • Workshop mods

Add the mod ids your community plays and the server downloads them from Steam before the mission starts.

  • Map choice

Chernarus, Livonia or Sakhal picked at signup — changeable later in serverDZ.cfg.

  • Admin tools

A generated admin password for in-game admin commands, plus the server log from the panel.

Questions

DayZ hosting FAQ.

Things people ask before signing up.

How much RAM does a DayZ server need?
DayZ keeps its whole world state in memory: roughly 6 GB for a small vanilla Chernarus server, 8 GB for a modded one, and 12-16 GB for a high-population modded server with a large base count.
Where do bases and characters live?
In mpmissions/<mission>/storage_1 and the profiles directory — both outside the game files you re-download on an update, and both part of every backup we take. That is why an update or a reinstall does not cost your community its progress.
Can I run workshop mods?
Yes. Add the workshop ids to the server's mod list and restart — the server pulls them from Steam on the next boot. Mods that need client-side keys (like map packs) require your players to subscribe to the same mods.
How does DayZ persistence interact with restarts?
The server writes persistent state periodically and on a clean shutdown, so a graceful stop from the panel is always the safest way to reboot. Restarts from the panel use that graceful path.
