How to Host an Omnifactory Server

Omnifactory is the original GregTech Community Edition automation pack on Forge 1.12.2 — it established the "GregTech-lite" formula that standard Forge mods get folded into, before its community fork Nomifactory CEu expanded on it with more content and better balance. Getting the launch right matters either way: enough RAM for the integrated progression, a clean modpack import, and a verified first boot before anyone starts building toward end-game automation.

1

Start with 6 GB of RAM unless this is a very small server — Omnifactory's own recommended floor, since the GregTech progression and the Forge mods folded into it carry real overhead beyond a plain Forge 1.12.2 pack.

2

Use a proper modpack import flow instead of guessing from a client export, so the Forge version and every integrated mod match the official Omnifactory release exactly.

3

Watch the first boot logs until the server finishes loading on 1.12.2 and all the integrated GregTech-lite content registers cleanly before anyone logs in.

4

Invite players only after that first clean startup — a half-loaded GregTech progression is a bad place to start building machines.

5

Take a backup before world imports, loader updates or config changes — losing an automation chain you've built toward the pack's GregTech progression is a bad night.

Use a cleaner Omnifactory path

CoalHost is built around modpack hosting, which makes Omnifactory much less annoying to launch correctly.
