How to Host an Enigmatica 2 Server
Enigmatica 2 (E2) is the original, non-expert edition of the Enigmatica line, built on Forge 1.12.2. Unlike Enigmatica 2: Expert, E2 keeps vanilla crafting recipes — no recipe overhaul, no expert-mode gating — making it the accessible starting point before stepping up to later generations like Enigmatica 6 (1.16.5) or Enigmatica 9 (1.19.2).
Start from a 6 GB RAM floor. Enigmatica 2's broad Forge 1.12.2 mod selection needs more headroom than a vanilla server, and 6 GB keeps world generation and tech-mod chunk loading from stalling on first boot.
Import the modpack through a proper modpack installer instead of guessing from a client export. Enigmatica 2 ships as a curated Forge pack, and manually copying a client's mods folder onto a server is the fastest way to end up with mismatched client-only mods or a broken mod list.
Watch the console through the first full boot. Forge 1.12.2 packs like E2 take several minutes to generate overworld chunks and initialize every mod's registries — don't restart or touch the server until you see it finish loading cleanly with no repeating errors.
Only open the server to players after that first clean startup. Letting people join mid-load on a mod-heavy 1.12.2 pack is a common cause of corrupted chunks and mod desync.
Take a backup before importing an existing world, updating Forge or any mod, or editing configs. Since E2 uses vanilla crafting recipes, players invest serious time in tech-tree progression and automation builds — losing that to an untested change is avoidable.

CoalHost is built around modpack hosting, which makes Enigmatica 2 (E2) much less annoying to launch correctly.
