How to Host a Roguelike Adventures and Dungeons (RAD1) Server
RAD1 is the original Roguelike Adventures and Dungeons on Forge 1.12.2 — overhauled dungeon generation, RPG leveling, new biomes, and hundreds of mob types layered over a kitchen-sink foundation. It's grittier and harder than its sequel RAD2 on 1.16.5, which smoothed over a lot of the rough edges, so getting the server pack and RAM right matters more here than on most modpacks.
Start with at least 7 GB of RAM. RAD1 stacks overhauled dungeon generation, a full RPG leveling system, new biomes, and hundreds of mob types on top of a kitchen-sink Forge base, so 7 GB is the realistic floor even for a small group — not a number to shave down to save a euro or two.
Import the official RAD1 server pack directly from CurseForge or Modrinth instead of rebuilding it by hand from a client export. RAD1 ships a dedicated server pack with the correct mod set and configs already matched to the client; guessing at it from a client install is the fastest way to end up with mismatched mod versions.
Watch the console through the entire first boot. With this much content on Forge 1.12.2, world and dungeon structure generation can take several minutes — don't call the server ready until you see it reach a clean "Done" with no repeating mod load errors or missing dependency warnings.
Only invite players once that first clean boot has actually happened. Letting people connect while dungeon structures and world data are still generating is how you end up with corrupted chunks or crashes in the first few minutes of play.
Take a backup before importing an existing world, updating any mod, or touching a config file. RAD1's dungeon progression and RPG character levels are baked into the save — a bad import or a mistimed update can erase hours of dungeon clearing and leveling in one move.
