How to Host a Project Architect 2 Server
Project Architect 2 is a Forge 1.20.1 pack built entirely around building and decoration — Macaw's series, Supplementaries, Chipped, and more stacked together for an enormous palette of blocks and furniture, with no tech or magic progression attached. Hosting it well is less about simulating complex machines and more about giving that huge block registry room to load cleanly before anyone starts placing.
Start the server with at least 5 GB of RAM allocated. Project Architect 2 stacks hundreds of building-focused mods on Forge 1.20.1 — Macaw's series, Supplementaries, Chipped — and that block/item registry has to fully load before the world comes up, so going below this floor shows up as a stuck or failed boot rather than a smooth one.
Import the modpack through a proper modpack install flow instead of copying mods over from a client export. Project Architect 2 is pure building and decoration with no tech or magic progression layered in, so a clean import avoids pulling in client-side-only resource packs or shader-adjacent files that have no job running on a dedicated server.
Watch the console through the first boot and let it finish completely. With this many decorative block mods registering content, the early log is long — wait for the 'Done' message and a stable tick rate before assuming the server is healthy, rather than judging it by how long the loading bar sits still.
Only invite builders in once that first clean startup is confirmed. Unlike Create-focused packs or FTB Builders Paradise on 1.12.2, there's no tech or magic progression to protect here — but a half-loaded block registry can still corrupt placed blocks if players start building before everything is registered.
Take a backup before importing an existing world, updating the Forge loader, or changing any mod configs. Because this pack is construction-first, the only thing at risk in a bad update is the builds themselves — there's no gear or base progression to fall back on, so a lost backup means lost structures, full stop.

CoalHost is built around modpack hosting, which makes Project Architect 2 much less annoying to launch correctly.
