How to Host a Kingdoms and Colonies Rebirth Server
Kingdoms and Colonies Rebirth is a Forge 1.20.1 pack built around MineColonies, where you grow a settlement, expand your territory, and manage diplomatic relations with procedurally-generated rival kingdoms instead of just building a base. Unlike Ancient Kingdoms 3's conquest-focused play or Create'a Colony's factory-driven colony building, this pack centers on balanced development with no single winning strategy. Hosting it well mostly comes down to giving the colony and diplomacy systems enough RAM and letting the initial kingdom generation finish cleanly before anyone logs in.
Start with at least 7 GB of RAM — that's the recommended floor for Kingdoms and Colonies Rebirth on Forge 1.20.1, where MineColonies' colony pathfinding, procedurally-generated rival kingdoms, and the ongoing diplomacy simulation all run at the same time. Going lower shows up as colonist AI stutter and slower world ticks as more kingdoms generate in.
Import the pack from its official server files rather than exporting your client install and guessing at what the server needs. Forge modpacks like this one bundle world-generation and config files that have to match your client's version exactly, or colony claims and kingdom borders will desync.
Watch the console through first boot. MineColonies needs to register its structures and schematics, and the diplomacy system needs to generate the initial set of rival kingdoms across the map. Only consider the server ready once that generation finishes and the log settles without repeating errors.
Only invite players after that first clean startup. Joining while rival kingdoms and colony claims are still being placed can leave territory boundaries corrupted before anyone's built anything.
Take a backup before any loader update, config change, or world import. Losing a world here means losing your colonists' built-up colony levels, your claimed territory, and the diplomatic standing you've built with rival kingdoms — none of which come back.

CoalHost is built around modpack hosting, which makes Kingdoms and Colonies Rebirth much less annoying to launch correctly.
