How Much RAM Does an FTB Academy Server Need?
FTB Academy is the official FTB beginner pack on Forge 1.12.2 — see the FTB Academy pack page for the full mod list. Because it's a teaching pack built around a guided quest line rather than a heavy destination pack like Direwolf20 or Enigmatica, it needs far less RAM than most other FTB modpacks. Here's how to size a server for it. Finnish players: Minecraft-palvelin hosting is our native-language page. German players: Minecraft-Server mieten covers the same hosting auf Deutsch. Svenska spelare: Hyra Minecraft-server täcker samma hosting på svenska.
2 GB
Bare minimum. Works for solo play or testing the pack before committing to a plan, but leaves little headroom once a second player joins or the world grows.
3 GB
The best starting point for most FTB Academy servers. This matches the pack's own recommended RAM floor and comfortably covers a small group working through the quest line together.
4 GB
A safer choice for a mid-size active group, especially once players start building out automation setups from the later quest chapters.
6 GB
Recommended for 10+ players or a long-running world where multiple players are progressing through quests and building in parallel.
