How Much RAM Does an ATM9 Server Need?

All The Mods 9 is one of the heaviest kitchen-sink packs available. 8 GB is the bare minimum — 10–12 GB is where the server actually runs well for a group.

8 GB

2–4 players, early game

Minimum for ATM9. Gets you through early game with a small group, but expect slower startup times and some GC pauses.

10 GB

3–8 players, mid-game

Comfortable for a small group through mid-game. Covers most automation setups without memory pressure.

12 GB

6–16 players, all stages

Recommended. Stable for normal multiplayer groups with active automation, multiple mods running simultaneously.

16 GB

12–30 players, late-game automation

Late-game with heavy Create machinery, RS networks, and many players online simultaneously. Headroom for world growth.

FAQ

How does ATM9 compare to ATM10 for RAM?+
ATM9 and ATM10 are similarly sized kitchen-sink packs on 1.20.1. RAM requirements are comparable — both need 10–12 GB for a comfortable multiplayer experience.
Does ATM9 use NeoForge or Forge?+
ATM9 runs on NeoForge for Minecraft 1.20.1. The server pack from CurseForge includes the correct NeoForge version — use it rather than installing NeoForge manually.
Why does ATM9 take so long to start?+
ATM9 loads 400+ mods on startup. First boot takes 5–10 minutes as NeoForge builds the registry and generates the world. Subsequent starts are faster (2–4 minutes) once the cache is warm.
Can I run ATM9 on 6 GB?+
Technically it boots, but you will see frequent GC pauses, slow chunk loading and eventual crashes under player load. 8 GB is the real minimum; 10 GB is where it actually runs well.
Does player count affect RAM as much as automation?+
Both matter, but late-game automation (chunk loaders, RS networks, Create contraptions) often has a bigger impact than adding a few more players. Monitor actual RAM use with /forge tps.
