How Much RAM Does a Cosmic Frontiers Server Need?

Cosmic Frontiers (see the Cosmic Frontiers pack page) wraps GregTech — one of the most demanding tech mods that exists, gated by real metallurgical and chemical knowledge — in a sci-fi and arcane theme, and the RAM you need tracks GregTech's weight far more than the magic or space-exploration systems layered on top. Here's how much each player-count tier actually needs. Finnish players: Minecraft-palvelin hosting is our native-language page. German players: Minecraft-Server mieten covers the same hosting auf Deutsch. Svenska spelare: Hyra Minecraft-server täcker samma hosting på svenska.

4 GB

Bare minimum, and only for a single player poking around offline. GregTech's multiblock machines and ore-processing chains start choking tick time at this level the moment real automation goes up — not recommended for anything you plan to keep running.

8 GB

The best starting point for most Cosmic Frontiers servers, and the catalog's own recommended floor. This covers a solo player or small 2-3 person group running GregTech's processing chains alongside the pack's sci-fi and arcane systems without constant garbage-collection stutter.

12 GB

Safer for a mid-size active group of 4-6 players, especially once multiple GregTech multiblock setups and chunk-loaded machines are running at the same time across different bases.

16 GB

Recommended for 10+ players or a long-running world with a mature GregTech processing network, several active multiblocks, and the magic/space-exploration systems layered on top all ticking simultaneously.
